Why you might like it

  • Eight-slot skill bars and dual professions turn preparation into the central challenge: players select a tiny toolkit from hundreds of skills, then adapt it to enemies, party roles and cooperative mission bonuses.
  • Level 20 arrives early and power is largely horizontal, so success depends more on builds, positioning and party composition than endless item-level inflation. Nightfall's customizable Heroes also make most campaign content practical solo.
  • Reforged adds controller support, Steam Deck verification, better quest direction, larger text, HD icons, high-DPI support and rendering improvements. Existing owners keep characters and receive the three included campaigns without a subscription.

Things to consider

  • Explorable areas are instanced to a party, with towns acting as the primary shared hubs, so the world lacks spontaneous open-field encounters. Combat also rewards deliberate skill activation rather than modern action controls.
  • Eye of the North and the Bonus Mission Pack remain separate purchases, and Reforged does not redesign the original missions or economy. Some modes and outposts have small populations despite the refreshed client.
  • A build can fail badly when an area punishes its damage type or key mechanic, and early campaigns explain little about advanced synergy. Wiki research and Hero configuration become increasingly important after the introductory regions.
